SCALE is an FCRA & ISO certified NGO, working for 15 years now. During this period, it has stood with dignity, self-respect & successful deliverables through the social welfare initiatives it has launched. It was established on January 9, 2002, by a team of experienced professionals with a vision to improve the quality of life of the marginalised sections of our society. SCALE was the result of the deep concerns of founding members’ - for the plight of poor, deprived and most vulnerable segment of the population. It aims to check environmental degradation & provide easy access to quality education as well as women empowerment. The founding members’ commitment, expertise and background place SCALE in an advantageous position in terms of bringing about effective and sustainable changes in the lives of local people and society.
It has been closely working with the corporates like, Acer, Mahindra & Mahindra, Nokia, Mistral Solutions, Maruti Suzuki, Human Development Foundation and USA based companies like AgreeYa Solutions, Robin Raina Foundations, IDRF & GXT Green, as well as credible donors.
SCALE over the last 6 years has been extensively promoting ‘Green Projects & Women Empowerment & School Education’ in rural Uttarakhand. Now it has replicated these initiatives in Uttar Pradesh also.
We are proud to mention that SCALE has developed its own product design & innovative technology. It offers value for money to its users. SCALE has brought this technology to the most remote & rural areas of Uttarakhand & Uttar Pradesh. It uses the best quality of components like OSRAM LED’s, Exide batteries, high end Moser Baer or Vikram Solar Panels, NG switches amongst others. It has carried out more than 25 capacity building programs & trained over 300 unemployed youth in the manufacturing & repair of solar products. We are happy to mention that majority of these trained youth are today employed in electrical and electronic industry.
SCALE has presumably set up India’s first two solar cooperatives in Uttarakhand & Uttar Pradesh. Along with the Uttarayan Cooperative for Renewable Energy (UCRE), set up in Uttarakhand, we have solar lighted 4000 rural houses in Uttarakhand. We are delighted to mention that both the cooperatives have become sustainable in very short time.
In its unique mission of solar lighting border villages, we are very proud to mention that SCALE has donated solar lights to 40 villages & 3 ITBP bases on India-China border & 23 villages on India-Nepal border through Sashastra Seema Bal. SCALE intends to light up in 2017-18, additional 200 border villages.
SCALE has recently set up Alambana Centre, a women Self-Help Group (SHG) in Rudrapur, Uttarakhand. These women have been provided with basic & advance training by SCALE in stitching school uniforms, ladies suits and many other beautiful gift items. We are happy to mention that they are earning decent income by stitching for their village folks as well as making school uniforms for SCALE’s Anganwadi initiative. SCALE has already donated 2000 school uniforms to 40 Anganwadi Schools in Uttarakhand. It plans to donate 6,250 school uniforms to cover 250 Aganwadi schools in 2017-18.
School education has become a key for student’s better future. SCALE is driving the development of students in schools, through quality of teaching, setting up Computer & Science centres and to inculcate innovative thinking amongst them. Smart Learning & e-Learning has been new introductions to its educational initiatives.
SCALE has been actively working in school education for the last 10 years. During this period, over 10000 school children have benefitted through our computer & Science laboratories set up in the neediest schools. This includes the schools on India-China border. SCALE’s goal for 2017-18 is to provide Smart Learning & E-Learning to additional 15 rural schools in Uttarakhand & Uttar Pradesh. It is confident that it will help the under-privileged school children to come out better prepared to pursue their life ambitions.
We are very pleased to mention that our skill based programs have provided livelihood to more than 3000 youth from Uttarakhand. Be it the Computer Literacy, Tailoring, Optical Fibre or Computer Hardware, all these project initiatives have given the unemployed youth a future to dream about.
SCALE looks forward to your continued support in future. We hope that together we can make a difference in providing a quality of life to the needy sections of our society.
